1955 Queen Elizabeth II Series Definition

This is a 1 cent stamp of the series of stamps that were issued in 1955.
Even though this stamp is pretty old, it is still quite common and mint stamps like these can be easily gotten from ebay and stuff.

Singapore Philippines Joint Bridge Issue

It is indeed appropriate that are joint issue should feature bridges on stamps. Bridges serve to connect two land masses that are separated by water or a river. It signifies a closing in the gap and tightening of relations between two lands.

The bridges depicted here are found in Singapore and Philippines.

Youth Olympic Games

The Youth Olympic Games will be held in Singapore in 2010. This set of beautiful stamps depicting the various sports is the Youth Olympic Games stamp set.
I really like the design because it reminds me of the stamps of the 1980s yet has much more colour in it.

Local Desserts

This is a set of stamps depicting desserts that you can find in Singapore or in other neighboring countries like Malaysia.

The first picture is that of ice kachang or shaved ice. It is especially good to eat during a hot day.

The fourth picture is that of a nine layer cake. Very delicious too.

Invest in Stamps

I feel so utterly bad... I have not blogged about stamps or updated my stamp collection for the longest time. Apologies to all readers out there as I was going through a job switch and stuff so needed some time to settle down.

Anyway, I read somewhere that a person once spent like $200 decades ago to buy some stamps. Today, the stamps are worth around $20000. Of course, that is due to inflation but it does show that investing in stamps might be a good idea. Not too sure what the market is like for Singapore stamps though.

Sculptures - National Day 2009

It has been a while since I bought any stamps. I have however been thinking of buying this set of lovely stamps that are part of the issue to celebrate Singapore's National Day. The stamps basically depict various sculptures done up by local artists.
